As we gear up for an exciting new cricket season, we have some fantastic news to share with you all.
The club is thrilled to welcome back two of its most cherished players, Darius D'Silva and Clint Hinchliffe, and to introduce two new additions, David Delany and Oliver Arkinstall, to our cricketing family. With their unique skills and expertise, these players are set to elevate the game and strengthen the legacy of the Mount Lawley District Cricket Club (MLDCC).
The Return of Legends: Darius D'Silva and Clint Hinchliffe
The mere mention of the names Darius D'Silva and Clint Hinchliffe evokes fond memories and images of their extraordinary performances on the pitch. These two champions have brought numerous victories and immense pride to our club, and we are ecstatic to have them return to grace us with their talent and experience once again.
Darius D'Silva, the master of precision with both bat and ball, has played some of the most memorable innings in the club's history. He has represented the WA cricket team at the Under 19 level and also the United Arab Emirates on the international stage. His unwavering dedication and leadership qualities have not only led us to triumph but have also inspired generations of young cricketers in our community.
Clint Hinchliffe, the seasoned all-rounder, possesses an innate ability to turn the game around single-handedly. His powerful batting and deceptive spin bowling have been instrumental in achieving many memorable victories for the Mt Lawley Hawks, and you will have also seen these skills on display in the BBL first with the Perth Scorchers and subsequently Melbourne Stars.
Their return brings a renewed sense of enthusiasm and confidence to the team. With these two seasoned campaigners back in action, we are certain that the upcoming season will be one to remember.
Welcoming the Rising Star: David Delany
Amidst all the excitement of having our beloved veterans back, we are equally delighted to introduce the young and talented David Delany to the Mt Lawley Hawks family. David is a former Ireland International player and joins the Hawks after a successful season in Victoria and will add vital strength and depth to our bowling attack.
Primarily known for his prowess as a fast bowler, David had an uncanny ability to generate pace and swing, making him a formidable force on the field. His performances on the international stage earned him recognition and respect from both teammates and opponents alike.
A Fresh Beginning: Oliver Arkinstall Joins the Fray
Amidst the anticipation surrounding the return of cricketing stalwarts, we also extend a warm welcome to another new recruit, Oliver Arkinstall. Oliver brings a unique blend of talent and promise to the club. His consistent all-round performance, whether with the bat or ball, has garnered attention and marked him as a player to watch as early as his junior cricket days where a 14-year-old Oliver Arkinstall produced the highest score in WA underage cricket history - 272 not out - the highest since Mitch 'Bison' Marsh's 235 runs a decade prior in the same age category.
His enthusiasm and dedication to the sport align perfectly with our values, and we look forward to seeing his skills evolve on our hallowed grounds. His energetic presence both on and off the field is sure to inspire his teammates and invigorate the club as a whole.
Exciting Season Ahead
With the combined prowess of Darius D'Silva, Clint Hinchliffe, and the youthful energy of David Delany and Oliver Arkinstall, our squad is well-equipped to face the challenges of the upcoming season. The spirit of camaraderie, sportsmanship, and dedication that defines our club will be further amplified with the presence of these four exceptional players.
As the anticipation builds, we invite all our supporters and members to rally behind our team and be a part of the action-packed matches that lie ahead. The unwavering support from the Hawks family is an invaluable source of motivation for our players, and it reinforces the sense of community that Mount Lawley District Cricket Club proudly embodies.
