In a valiant T20 Elimination Final clash against Wanneroo on Sunday, the Mount Lawley Hawks Colts men’s squad displayed resilience despite falling short by 24 runs.
Having been sent in to bowl, our Colts showcased skillful bowling and fielding, limiting Wanneroo to 154 runs, particularly highlighted by Ishant Chopra's impressive 4-wicket haul, and a couple of wickets a piece for Ashton Stampalia and Cameron Fawcett.
The second innings saw a rocky start with the bat as early wickets were lost, but Colin Dwyer's entrance transformed the game. His T20 batting masterclass, scoring 80 runs off 35 balls, steadied the ship and brought the target into view. Unfortunately, an untimely run-out ended his stellar performance, with the team succumbing shortly thereafter to being all-out at 130 runs.
Despite the loss, our Colts lads can hold their heads high, displaying a much-improved performance and securing a commendable ladder position. This season marks a successful return to form for the team.
A big thank you to our Hawks community who came to support the boys, especially our senior players across the grades.
Go Hawks! 🦅
