Mount Lawley District Cricket Club (MLDCC) kicked off the junior cricket season with a bang at a memorable launch event at the Yokine Bowling Club and hosted by our MLDCC Club President, Brendan Reid. The event was a celebration and introduction of young talent and the strong community spirit that defines the Mt Lawley Hawks.
Each player's name was called out proudly by their coach, signalling the start of an exciting season ahead. The young athletes were welcomed into the Hawks family with open arms. Adding a touch of inspiration to the event, senior Hawks players were on hand to present the junior players with their playing caps. This tradition not only symbolised the passing of the torch from seasoned players to future rising stars but also instilled a sense of belonging and aspiration among the youngsters.
Beyond the cricketing ceremonies, the day was filled with fun and camaraderie. A delicious sausage sizzle was provided and some of our younger cricketers may not even have been aware that manning the BBQ was none other than the club's Senior Head Coach, David Virgo, along with some upstanding senior players and parents. It was a great opportunity for junior Hawks families to introduce or reacquaint from last season prior to round one in a relaxed social setting, continuing to show that Mt Lawley Hawks is a club built on a close-knit community.
MLDCC Club President, Brendan Reid, also presented each of our coaches with their new customised Hawks branded kit bags. The club would like to thank Slater Gartrell Sport for their ongoing sponsorship for the 23/24 season and kicking it off by generously providing each junior squad with these quality kit bags.
A heartfelt thanks to our dedicated coaches, club officials, parents, and players for taking the time to attend this special season launch. Especially on a Father's Day. Your presence made this day enjoyable and a resounding success.
As the event came to a close, the MLDCC junior cricket season launch left everyone in high spirits and eagerly anticipating the cricket season ahead.
Here's to a fantastic season ahead! 🦅
